Asbestos exposure becomes a health concern when high concentrations of asbestos fibers are inhaled over a long time period. People who become ill from inhaling asbestos are often those who are exposed on a day-to-day basis in a job where they worked directly with the material. As a person's exposure to fibers increases, because of being exposed to higher concentrations of fibers and/or by being exposed for a longer time, then that person's risk of disease also increases.
In Sudan, Asbestos was widely used as a construction material especially in claddings and water supply and waste water pipes. Until the current day, Asbestos cladding sheets can still be noticed in old buildings all around the country and in the very heart of Khartoum city. The lack of sufficient public awareness about the hazards of this material has led to very serious mistakes dealing with it. Most of the time, when Asbestos is intended to be removed, it is removed without the proper supervision and skilled personnel that are necessary to eliminate risks.
JOBXL Construction Co. Ltd. has successfully accomplished projects of Safe Removal, Handling and Wrapping of Asbestos corrugated sheet cladding of Shell Company hangers in Khartoum Airport (2008), Wad Madani city (2009) and Port Sudan (2008). Projects were completed to the most recent and strict standard and in accordance with Shell International HSSE policy.

It has been possible to achieve this result by combining the geotechnical skills, structural engineering know-how and knowledge on materials which has been acquired by Maccaferri over the years.
